Les Étoiles d'Ivry - the brutalist district in 5 km away from the center of Paris.
It was designed by Renée Gailhoustet and Jean Renaudie and built from 1969 to 1975. The name "The Stars of Ivry" is given in reference to the trianles in unfinished concrete which radiate from an orthogonal grid. The district is the result of reflections on new forms of social housing in the 1950s and 1960s. It contains not only housing, but mixed functions like cultural facilities and shops. The apartments, all with a garden terraces, are arranged in a concrete cascades.
New episode about Brutalist Paris is on our channel (with the story behind this incredible district in CC-subtitles).
