Dusseldorf: Archwalks Travel Guide

We have visited Düsseldorf for the first time as the starting point of our summer travel 2023.
This travel guide is based on our personal experience and contains the places we have visited.

The main information about the city:
It is the capital city of North Rhine-Westphalia, the most populous state of Germany. It has 629,047 inhabitants (December 31, 2022), and it is the second largest city in the state (after Cologne). Düsseldorf is a trade fair city and the headquarters of many listed companies, including the DAX-listed Henkel group. It has the highest turnover for auditing, management consulting and clothing fashion as well as an important financial and stock exchange center. It has also a leading location for the art trade in Germany. The city is also home to 22 universities.

How long to stay:
Our advise is to stay 2-3 days.

Architectural poins to visit:
- Neuer Zollhof by Frank O. Gehry

-The Rheinturm telecommunications tower

Kö-Bogen commercial center by Studio Libeskind

- Kö-Bogen II by Ingenhoven

- Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus by Bernhard Pfau

Beautiful places for a walk with a view: - The Medienhafen

- The Rheinpark Bilk

- The Rheinuferpromenade - frontline of the Old Town to the Rhine

Where to eat: -Takumi 4th Loretto (Düsseldorf and its surroundings have the 3rd-largest Japanese community in Europe and the largest in Germany)

Be aware:
- The central station seems to be the worst place in the city, we advise to go there as fast as possible only to take a train.

- The central street of Altstadt (Bolkerstraße) is to avoid as well.
